In June, as the outside scaffolding was dismantled, the scaffolders immediately reassembled it inside;
The stonemasons begin purging the joints and replacing damaged stones on the 25-metre high wall; Among other things, they clean the inside of the dome beneath the bell chamber; Finally, they prepare the recesses for the beams of the two floors to be added;
October saw the start of floor installation, a delicate operation given the narrow access; Each floor has a central opening in line with the round opening under the bell, for the eventual replacement of the bell;
At the end of November, the carpenters still have to complete the floors and install a wooden staircase to access the 3rd floor; Together with the stonemasons, they are also restoring the vaulted ceiling of the first floor hall;
After that, we can finally move on to the second phase of the Great Recovery: the transept;
The success of this work is only possible thanks to the faithful and generous help of our benefactors, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them; But the work isn’t over yet: the abbey is still counting on your support !
