We asked you last December to restore the bell tower’s first floor vault, to complete this important and time-consuming project. We would like to thank you warmly for your generosity, which has enabled us to raise €26,000;
Thanks to you this first stage of the restoration has just been completed. You’ll be able to come and admire it very soon, as soon as it opens to the public!
The companies still need to fine-tune a few details and leave the site clean;
Soon, we’ll be opening the second phase of restoration work on our abbey complex: the south arm of our church’s transept. A marvel of Romanesque art, built in the 11th century, this part of the transept collapsed in the 19th century. It links the nave to the transept, ensuring the coherence of this unique architectural ensemble.In addition to its historical and aesthetic value for visitors, this space will significantly increase the abbey church capacity.
We have submitted the application for authorization to the relevant authorities, and are eagerly awaiting their approval so that, we hope, we can go ahead with this GREAT RELIEF;
We need your support for this project; This €2.7M restoration is a sign of hope: 1200 years of history speak at Lagrasse Abbey;
Help us keep it going!
