Au début du printemps, le the second transept arch was under construction. Since then, work has progressed on several fronts at once.
So the second story arc has long been in place. Raising the missing pillar will enable us to quickly install the third. Tie rods are also positioned at the arches to consolidate the structure.
At the same time, workers rebuilt the walls. The west wall of the transept has risen several meters. On the east side, facing the biblical garden, the wall is less damaged. But the facade next to the bell tower has been breached. The masons rebuilt a window that was still partially in place. They then assemble the stones to complete the line of battlements.
The eastern wall has also partially collapsed on the other side, against the chapel.. Before it can be rebuilt, the absidiole must be completed. The front of this spherical chapel lacks an arch on which the wall will rest. Its relatively small size would almost make it an easy task, if the cramped stone-laying site weren’t such a hindrance.
Far more imposing, however, is the arch above the aisle. In the same direction as the church arm, it links it to the nave wall. It rests on the transept wall, which gives it its thickness of over a metre.. In the nave, it joins up with an existing notch, which has been filled in for added strength. The first step is to clear away some of the sandstone blocks. These restore the colors already found in the cloister, and are laid on two levels.
